About iSix:5
Author: JG(Left to Right: Barabbas, J.Miles, Omri, JG)
iSix:5 is a collective of young urban men who share a passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Their love for the Gospel message, and their desire to see it advanced, has united them in a unique way. Seeking to convey the truths of Scripture thru hip hop, iSix:5 was formed. Through God’s providence, they initially came together on the streets of Tempe, AZ while individually sharing the Gospel in the Mill Avenue District. They met on the mission field, and their music is ultimately a product of their desire to put something into the hands, ears, & hearts of those they met.
With that being said, Hip Hop is used as a tool in that effort. Their desire is to proclaim the Gospel in a culturally relevent form, & to contextualize the truths of the Bible to the urban culture without compromising Scripture. They are Christ-centered & Cross-centered, & organically connected to, & serving in, their local Bodies, & their prayer is that their music is just a reflection of these things, that would ultimately point to the Glory of our Savior.
The name iSix:5 stems from Isaiah 6:5. In the sphere of Hip Hop, we use our mouths to speak on what is in our hearts. For the unbelieving artist that consists of self & the temporal lusts of the flesh. For iSix:5, it is the unmerited & wondrous grace of the God of Scripture! Sinful man (all mankind) is subject to pride & self-exaltation, and this wickedness is easily amplified when someone is given a platform to speak to an audience. Hence, an ever-present reminder to all, is that like the Prophet Isaiah, these are but sinful men of unclean lips, totally undone before Him who is Righteous and three times Holy. If it were not for the coal of Jesus’ cross touching their lips and hearts, their very lives would be utterly worthless. Praise God for His plan of redemption that, by grace alone, saves and washes unclean men and women like you and me!
Thus, we give you iSix:5! May you be edified, encouraged, and stirred up to live your life in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His Kingdom! (1 Thessalonians 2:12)
