We spend a lot of time digging in the Text to formulate our songs, & so in an effort to make them easier to follow along with, we’ve compiled ALL of our Lyrics to “UNPACKED” in a PDF, & have made them available for the listeners’ clarity.

The guys “unpack” various aspects of the Gospel & the Christian Walk, such as living lives holy unto the Lord, the role of the local church, & God’s just wrath. The guys also walk you thru how the Scriptures, old & new, point to Messiah; & you may even hear some Old Testament characters pop up! Enjoy!

The Arrival
incarnation

Verse 1:
Make straight the way, as the angels announce,
The arrival of the Savior in the manger, they shout,
And praise the Father for His plan of redemption.
Isaiah 53 soon to be in fruition. Listen.
It was no ordinary birth that night,
Itʼs the incarnation of the Author of Life.
The Ancient of Days, the second person of the Trinity,
Was emerging on the stage to fulfill the mission He…
Agreed to complete, way back in eternity [past],
Before the foundation of the world, and He certainly,
Knew the grisly end He would meet,
So He could sprinkle His own blood on that Mercy Seat.
So the Father bound up the Son inside of a seed,
And the Spirit moved & placed Him in the womb of a teen,
Iʼm talking uncontainable glory, confined to a fetus,
He shall be called Immanuel, His Majesty, Jesus.

Hook:
My soul magnifies the Lord And my spirit rejoices
Let us glorify the King as we lift up our voices
The Word became flesh, but if you miss this
You miss the real reason why we celebrate Christmas (2x)

Verse 2:
A virgin By the Holy Spirit gave birth when
There was no place in the inn without a reservation
The location, in the city of David
Where the Word became flesh already feeling the hatred
Seems like an atrocity, but peep the dichotomy
Heʼs born in a feeding trough and still ruling sovereignly
The star in the sky brought wise men to this guy
And Heʼs the nations High Priest Not from the tribe of Levi
He came to save those, who were in imminent danger
He was born in a manger, but to earth, Heʼs no stranger
Even had his forerunner leaping in the womb
Make straight the way of the Lord cause the King is on the move
He took the form of a man knowing He would be trampled
His birth being a sample of His humble example
He was born for one purpose so that He could be bruised
Donʼt twist it, Heʼs supreme to angels,
Chapter one of Hebrews

Hook

Verse 3:
America forgot why weʼre rocking this Christmas thing,
Like ʻtis the season for shopping & gift exchange,
No, itʼs the time to worship God for the gift that came,
And stand in awe at His mercy and infinite grace!
How did we get focused on bells that jingle?
Exchanging the glory of Jesus for that dude Chris Cringle…
Weʼre sinful, and its just that simple
Cause the greatest gift of all canʼt be bought in a mall
This is not about reindeer, jingling bells, or sleigh rides,
Ornaments, pine trees, mistletoe, or colored lights.
This is God coming to our level to evangelize,
And hang the Light of the World on His tree, as a sacrifice.
Your name being on a list is why you behave?
Cause youʼre focused on what you get instead of who the Father gave,
His Son, who hung on a tree? Thatʼs obscene
Godʼs personal ornament but the tree wasnʼt green

Meet the Fellas http://isix5.com/archives/2009/10/18/meet-the-fellas/ http://isix5.com/archives/2009/10/18/meet-the-fellas/#comments Sat, 17 Oct 2009 20:38:14 +0000 JG http://isix5.com/archives/?p=86 Barabbas the Rebel

IMG_9828

Jordan Jacques (Barabbas the Rebel) is from El Paso Texas, but has lived in Arizona for the last 9 years. He is the middle child of three and was blessed with two loving, God-fearing parents. He grew up in church and has been involved as long as he can remember.
However, despite growing up in that Godly household, rap music and media influences proposed a secular lifestyle that Jordan took to extremely well. Paranoia was common for him as he dealt with doubting his salvation while running the streets. He has definitely experienced Gods grace in his life through genuine repentance and he is now making his call and election sure.
Jordan is currently attending, & is heavily involved in, Roosevelt Community Church ; a Christ-centered, reformed church, located in central Phoenix, who’s goal is to “Engage all people with all of Jesus”. He is passionate about evangelism and true discipleship, and looks forward to being used as a vessel in urban ministry.

JG

IMG_0027

JG was raised in such a way that, he can’t remember a time not knowing that God is Holy, man is sinful, & only true repentance & genuine faith in Jesus Christ brings reconciliation. But having knowledge of the Gospel one’s whole life, does not equal salvation. JG’s life is a testimony to that. The sinful desires & deceitfulness of his own heart led him into a life of rebellion, & by age 17, JG was immersed in the streets & a criminal lifestyle of selling guns & drugs & robberies, which all resulted in numerous arrests & jail time.
In early 2004, shortly after the birth of his son, God granted JG eyes to see himself as desperately sinful, & Jesus as infinitely Righteous. By God’s Grace, JG experienced true repentance & brokenness. Since then, he has been growing in grace & maturity by the power of the Gospel. He went on to receive a degree in Studio Recording & Audio Engineering, & is currently working towards Seminary training facilitated by his local Body, Grace Bible Church, where he is an active member.
Although his family tree is rooted in St. Louis, MO, JG was born in Cali, & raised in Phoenix. He now lives in Chandler, AZ with his beautiful wife Lena & their son Devin, where he works with at-risk youth in after-school programs.

Omri

IMG_9868

Omri is a living testimony of the sovereign, saving grace of God. As a son of believing parents, he grew up hearing the gospel from a very young age. After leaving New Orleans in 2004 to attend college in Augusta, GA, God revealed Himself as Holy to Omri, and changed his heart, causing him to walk in the good works that God had prepared for him before birth.
Equipped with a love for the deep truths revealed in Scripture, high thoughts of the Creator, and lyrical creativity, he now co-labors with the members of The PlumbLine and iSix:5, to produce gospel-centered, Christ-exalting hip hop. He currently resides in Phoenix, AZ while pursing a degree in Biblical Counseling at the Master’s College and teaching GED classes full-time.

J.Miles

IMG_9828

Born and raised on the east side of New Orleans, LA, J. Miles had the opportunity to grow up in a Christian home where His parents diligently taught him the gospel. As uncharacteristic as it is for black males from N.O. to graduate from college, he graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2007 while on a track scholarship.
It wasn’t until the latter part of 2005 that J. Miles actually began to flesh out what it meant to be a disciple of Christ though. Through a series of challenging circumstances, J. Miles clearly saw how God was using those events to draw him to Himself, through faith and repentance in Jesus Christ. While at Xavier, God surrounded him with a core group of guys who, like himself, were beginning their journey towards spiritual maturity through the knowledge of Christ.

Currently, J. Miles lives in Phoenix, AZ where he is actively involved in his local Body, Grace Bible Church. His passions include studying & teaching God’s Word, making disciples of Christ, and participating in street evangelism. In regards to future goals, J. Miles is spending most of his time preparing His heart for marriage to his fiancé Kamille. He also plans on attending seminary in the near future so that he is equipped to pastor and, by God’s grace, participate in urban church planting. Where that may be, only God knows!

First Fridays http://isix5.com/archives/2009/09/07/first-fridays/ http://isix5.com/archives/2009/09/07/first-fridays/#comments Sun, 06 Sep 2009 23:46:56 +0000 JG http://isix5.com/archives/?p=24 Every First Friday of every month, iSix:5 is in downtown Phoenix’s “Roosevelt Art District”, sharing the Gospel. We go out with a group of other cats from Grace Bible Church & Roosevelt Community Church, & spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, using rap. We sometimes “spit” acapella & freestyle raps centered on the Gospel & the cross of Christ, until we build a crowd, then the rappin’ stops & we really break down & articulate the Gospel in more detail…then we go back to rappin’! We continue this cycle as long as God grants us an audience, & all the while, our brothers (and sometimes sisters) in the faith are having more personal, one-on-one conversations with people around us. Our desire is to be used by God to draw a crowd, so that He can draw individuals unto Himself. To Him be all the power & all the praise & all the honor! Soli DEO Gloria!!
